Job SummaryYou will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Quality Control Branch (Code 221), Process Controls Division (Code 220), Office of the Chief Engineer (Code 240), Engineering and Planning Department (Code 200) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
QualificationsYour resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying comprehensive, practical knowledge of general engineering concepts and a familiarity with shipyard processes and methods. Experience applying strong working knowledge of computer systems, including AIM, AIM-EP, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience participating in meetings and discussing technical matters with various levels of management and in various engineering disciplines including mechanical, structural, electrical, and combat. Experience solving complex problems, leading and supporting engineers in their day-to-day functions. Major DutiesYou will provide ship availability job planning support at assigned project location.You will be responsible to ensure necessary funding issues are resolved and addressed to permit work to be accomplished as scheduled without delay.You will conduct troubleshooting ship checks as necessary to investigate shipboard situations as they arise.You will develop and maintain an active database of changes received and documented, reflecting all pertinent information as taken from the change document.You will provide guidance and leadership to lower graded personnel as required on the project availability team.
