This position is located in the Office of Collections, Division of Public History, National Museum of American History (NMAH). QualificationsExperience: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal Service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as 1. coordinating collection moves in a museum or similar cultural institution; 2. applying collections management principles to properly move and store objects; 3. using collection information systems to track objects and record collection information; and 4. coordinating and overseeing staff, including assigning, prioritizing and overseeing work. Your resume must be no more than two (2) pages and should clearly demonstrate how your experience aligns with the responsibilities and specialized experience required for this position. Major DutiesThe primary purpose of the Collections Move Coordinator is to serve as a project manager within the Office of Collections, overseeing the physical movement of museum collection objects between storage facilities. In this position, you will: Manage, adjust, and monitor the execution of multiple concurrent collection moves for objects that range greatly in size and medium. Communicate project progress, challenges, and resolutions with core stakeholders. Apply collections management principles, procedures, and concepts for proper object storage, preservation, security, movement and access control. Use Collections Information System (CIS) to track objects and record information on their movement and location. Assign and oversee work to be accomplished by subordinates. Develop performance standards and evaluate work performance. Serve as Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR) and Technical Point of Contact (TPOC), developing scopes of work, assembling procurement documents, monitoring progress, certifying deliverables and applying payment.RequirementsConditions of Employment Position requires a valid state driver's license. Position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain FAC-COR Level I Certification. Position requires incumbent to operate manual and mobile equipment to move objects and crates; this includes equipment ranging from dollies to forklifts. Position requires incumbent to wear personal protective equipment, including steel toe safety shoes when moving heavy objects, ear and eye protection, and gloves for lifting heavy objects. Qualification requirements, including one year time-in-grade at the next lower grade level for promotion candidates, must be met within 30 days of the job announcement closing date.
