Mental Health Nurse - Neurodevelopmental Assessment Service
Location: Chichester Hybrid working considered
Salary: £37,500 - £42,000 plus excellent benefits package

You'll play a vital role in ensuring individuals progress safely and efficiently through our neurodevelopmental assessment pathway.
Working alongside clinical and operational colleagues, you'll undertake mental health and risk assessments, screen referrals, identify safeguarding concerns and support clinical decision-making to ensure every service user receives safe, person-centred care.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced RMN who enjoys autonomous working while collaborating within a supportive multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
You'll be responsible for:
Screening referrals and assessing suitability for neurodevelopmental assessment pathways.Conducting mental health and risk assessmentsIdentifying safeguarding concerns, clinical risks and co-existing mental health conditions.Supporting safe clinical decision-makingLiaising with GPs, referrers and other healthcare professionals to obtain additional clinical information.Escalating high-risk cases and referring appropriately to crisis or secondary mental health services when required.Maintaining accurate, timely and confidential electronic patient records.Providing guidance and support to colleagues regarding mental health risk and safeguarding.Contributing to service development, audits, quality improvement initiatives and pathway enhancement.Participating in clinical supervision, reflective practice and multidisciplinary team discussions. Current NMC registration as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN)Experience undertaking mental health and risk assessmentsExcellent safeguarding knowledge and clinical judgementExcellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing prioritiesStrong clinical documentation and report-writing skillsAn understanding of neurodevelopmental conditions, presentations and assessment pathways Desirable:
Knowledge of NICE guidance relating to neurodevelopmental conditionsExperience in CBT, talking therapies or other psychological interventions.Experience working within NHS Right to Choose pathways

What You'll Be Doing

Conducting comprehensive mental health and risk assessments for children, young people and adults where indicated. Identifying safeguarding concerns, clinical risks and co-existing mental health conditions. Supporting safe clinical decision-making throughout the ADHD and Autism assessment process. Liaising with GPs, referrers and other healthcare professionals to obtain additional clinical information. Escalating high-risk cases and referring appropriately to crisis or secondary mental health services when required. Maintaining accurate, timely and confidential electronic patient records. Providing guidance and support to colleagues regarding mental health risk and safeguarding. Contributing to service development, audits, quality improvement initiatives and pathway enhancement. Participating in clinical supervision, reflective practice and multidisciplinary team discussions. About You

Current NMC registration as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) Experience undertaking mental health and risk assessments Excellent safeguarding knowledge and clinical judgement Strong communication and relationship-building skills Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities Strong clinical documentation and report-writing skills An understanding of neurodevelopmental conditions, presentations and assessment pathways It would be advantageous if you have:
Experience within ADHD, Autism or wider neurodevelopmental services Knowledge of NICE guidance relating to neurodevelopmental conditions Experience identifying and managing co-occurring mental health conditions Training or experience in CBT, talking therapies or other psychological interventions.
