This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Medicines Management Service in Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust. Dispensary Pharmacy Support Worker roles are based within our purpose-built pharmacy department at Maghull Health Park and supporting our in-house Pharmacy at Hollins Park Hospital in Warrington.

We are looking for enthusiastic, flexible, and motivated individuals to join our team and welcome applications from experienced dispensers from any sector who have an interest in developing their professional career within a hospital pharmacy setting. There will be opportunity to develop your skills and experience, and we will provide full training and a well-structured support system, including robust individual and group supervision, personal development planning and access to professional development opportunities.

You will be part of an expanding team of highly professional and dedicated staff whose aim is to provide an excellent, patient focused service.

This role would suit someone who is committed to providing high quality patient safety focused care utilising excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work within a large team.

Main duties of the job

The role involves dispensing various types of prescriptions including controlled drugs and clozapine and involves using our new automated robotic dispensing systems including a blister pack robot to dispense medicines. Other duties include responding to dispensary supply queries, preparing for medicines deliveries.

The Medicines Management team is well-established with a track record in delivering outcomes, our pharmacy support workers are key to ensuring this happens. The service supports physical health, mental health, and community care across a large geographical footprint.

The post-holder will be obliged to participate in our seven- day medicines supply service in line with the hours of operation

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To work in accordance with trust policies, procedures & standard operating procedures as appropriate.

To accurately and efficiently order & supply stock and named-patient dispensed medicines, including supply of compliance aids and patient information leaflets.

To follow up any outstanding orders for wards, clinics and service users on a daily basis in line with standard operation procedures.

To follow up any outstanding items on supplier orders on a daily basis and escalate appropriately.

To be involved in the supply of clozapine to service users. This will include: a) Dispensing of clozapine (including utilising compliance aids) in accordance with standard operating procedures.

Liaising with patients, the clozapine monitoring service, and clinical team regarding the appropriate supply of clozapine.Receiving of clozapine blood results.Issue of medication to clients at clozapine clinic.Organising the request and receipt of up-to-date clozapine prescriptions.
