Job summary

Ty Llidiard is a 15 bedded tier 4 General Adolescent Mental Health Unit with a high care ward, serving the population of South Wales. The unit has a full multi-disciplinary team, with a range of medical, nursing and therapeutic posts. The unit assesses and works with young people between the ages of 12 and 18 who live in South, Mid and West Wales who are experiencing psychiatric disorders such as anorexia nervosa, clinical depression, self-harming behaviours and early onset psychosis. The successful applicant will work as part of a large multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of care and treatment for children and young people.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new Occupational Therapy Team within Ty Llidiard - ensuring the delivery of an evidence-based, occupationally focussed specialist assessment and intervention service. The team comprises of a Band 7 Lead Occupational Therapist, this position, and two part-time Band 4 Assistant Occupational Therapy Practitioners.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of a highly skilled MDT working along side a range of therapists and medical professionals. You will be supporting individuals in their recovery - working collaboratively with service users to achieve optimum levels of occupational performance and occupational balance in lifestyle management, motivation, interpersonal skills, cognitive skills, self-care, productivity (education, training or employment) and leisure areas.

There is scope to facilitate environmental and sensory adaptation strategies, supporting inclusion and engagement in these areas.

The post holder will ensure the delivery of evidence-based assessments and interventions. Assessment outcomes will inform appropriate intervention plans, identify strengths and adaptive strategies, support recovery, facilitate early discharge and identify post-discharge support needs. Interventions will be through 1:1 sessions and group work on the unit and within the community.

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable at Level 3 Speaking/Listening (or 'B1' Level if you've learnt Welsh as an adult). This doesn't mean you have to be fluent or able to write long reports in Welsh; it just means being able to hold simple conversations with patients. Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy. Post graduate training/ accreditation in fieldwork education.

Desirable

Membership of professional body.

Experience Essential

Evidence graduate clinical experience related to post. Experience of service delivery in a variety of different clinical physical health settings.

Desirable

Welsh Language Skills (Level 3 and above/B1) are Desirable for this Role.
