Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our friendly and supportive team at Grove House Surgery.
The successful candidate will assist in delivering high-quality patient care and work closely with GPs, practice nurses, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to support the health and wellbeing of our patients.

Main duties of the job

Provide daily routine nursing care to patients as required in accordance with clinical-based evidence Provide wound care and dressings for patients Assist the Nursing and Clinical teams as and when necessary within the scope of the successful candidate Maintain accurate clinical records Ensure records and consultations are coded and recorded effectively and accurately Chaperone patients where necessary Assist GPs with minor surgery and nexplanon clinics when required Support the team in dealing with clinical emergencies Implement and be active in running vaccination programmes for adults and children Support the clinical team with all safeguarding matters, in accordance with local and national policies Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate Duties including venepuncture, wound care, BP, ECG and health promotion clinics Administrative duties including ordering, stock control and keeping rooms stocked with equipment.
Person Specification
Experience Essential
Previous experience working as an HCA in a GP Practice setting Qualified in Wound Care (simple and complex) Previous experience of taking ECGs, venepuncture Training would be given CDMs and LTCs Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and interpersonal skills Strong IT skills and competent in the use of Office and Outlook Effective time management (planning and organising) Ability to work as a team member and autonomously Problem-solving and analytical skills Ability to follow clinical policy and procedure
Desirable
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) Experience of chronic disease management Experience of Wound Care (simple and complex) Experience with clinical systems (e.g. EMIS, SystmOne) Good communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work as part of a team and independently Basic IT skills Understanding of confidentiality and data protection
