Job summary
We are seeking someone for 20hrs a week over 4 days, who is a committed team player with a positive attitude and a flexible approach to work. The successful candidate will need to be keen to learn with a willingness to take on responsibility.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience of working in general practice, and be trained up to a high clinical standard within primary care.
The working hours are:
Monday 7:30am to 12pm
Tuesday OFF
Wednesday 7:30am to 12pm
Thursday 12pm to 6.30pm
Friday 7:30am to 12pm
Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for delivering all aspects of the Health Care Assistant role including phlebotomy, simple dressings, some injections, health checks, and ECG recording. You will work under the direct supervision of the Practice Nursing Team and collaboratively with the whole general practice team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of services.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Phlebotomy perform blood tests as per clinicians instructions documented in patient record/on blood test template NHS Health Checks Carry out Health checks for those patients that have been invited via letter to attend clinic and complete template ECG recording Perform ECGs as per clinicians instructions and communicate with requesting/duty doctor regarding result 24 Hr ECG recording Perform ECGs as per GP referral. 24 hour blood pressure recording to manage patients requiring this test and follow the appropriate guidelines Perform ear syringing and ear micro-suction confidently and maintain skills Perform removal of sutures and staples Perform teledermatology and action to consultants via the app Perform health reviews on patients who have learning disabilities and feedback any valuable information to GP Immunisation Administering flu and B12 vaccinations under Patient Specific Direction and maintain skills Dressing of wounds within your own competence asking for help when needed non complex wounds. Chaperone Act as chaperone to patients as required following the practice chaperone policy Basic Clinical Measurement Carry out Blood pressures, urinalysis, height, weight where instructed following strict guidelines and inform doctors of results. Run and manage the POD plus appointments which involves diabetic foot checks, Kardia device management and basic diabetes care information and onward refer if needed. Stock checking expiry dates Cleaning Ensure clinical instruments and areas are clean. Ensure fridge in dirty utility is cleaned on a weekly basis and the recording sheet completed Vaccine Fridges Ensure temperature of fridge recorded on a daily basis, report any concerns this is a joint responsibility within the team Record Keeping Accountable for safe and accurate record keeping as well as regular timely inputting of computer activity Calibrating Machines Responsible for calibrating machines that are used to perform specific patient testing such as INRs and Vascular Health checks on a weekly basis and reporting any faults to the Practice Manager. Re-Stocking Doctors rooms - Responsible for replenishing supplies in Doctors rooms on a regular basis and checking expiry dates on the supplies. Epley Manoeuvre Assist GPs with Epley manoeuvre as per instruction.
Start and end of day procedures:
Make all necessary preparation to receive patients To assist with securing premises at end of the day by locking rooms and ensuring internal lights and computers switched off.
Staff Training:
Attend in-house or outside Training Sessions as required and complete online learning via Blue Stream Attend monthly nurse meetings Attend staff meetings as required Attend appropriate BEST sessions as required

An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality. Be conversant with all Practice Policies which can be found on the Intranet. Provide quality customer care. An ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness, common sense and local knowledge, to respond to patients enquiries and requests. Adapt to changes in routine according to changes in Practice Policy. Assist the clinician and other nurse colleagues and Practice Manager when requested. It is recognised that teamwork, co-operation and flexibility with your colleagues is essential for you to fulfill your duties.

Qualifications Essential
GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths - or equivalent Qualified to NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care

Experience Essential
Experience of working in a Primary Care environment. Experience of working as a Health Care Assistant or Community Health Care Assistant
