Your New Role

CNN is seeking a Sr. Analytics Developer with subject matter expertise in analytic workstreams and data analysis. You have demonstrated a pattern of independently shipping analytical solutions. You are comfortable working on cross-functional team and diverse stakeholder requirements.

Your work powers audience analytics, personalization, and content recommendations for millions of users daily across CNN.com, the CNN mobile app, and connected TV experiences. You will drive architecture decisions, set engineering standards, and mentor other engineers on the team. If you thrive on owning complex systems end-to-end and care deeply about building reliable, secure infrastructure at scale - this is the role.

Your Role Accountabilities

Participate in the architectural direction for CNN's Data Platform - own data modeling, schema design, and platform capabilities that serve Analytics, Data Science, ML, and AI teamsDevelop, design, and implementation of CNN's Data Platform for real-time data use casesMentor junior engineers through code reviews, design sessions, and technical guidanceDeliver scalable data pipelines for both real-time streaming and batch processing.Drive best practices around security, performance, and reliability for data servicesContribute to technical roadmap planning and advocate for improvements to the data platformDeliver high-quality, well-tested code - improve code, documentation, and operational runbooks with each iterationCommunicate designs, architectural decisions, and technical tradeoffs clearly to engineers and leaders at all levels - represent the data platform domain with autonomyYou create functional level impact and deliver more complex features. You also help drive clarity and define problems proactively.Evangelize and oversee implementation of data engineering best practices - your code, documentation, and operational standards are the model others followYou think about the long-term health of your work, your monitoring, your alerting, and your documentation. You nurture all of these in parallel to your engineer responsibilities.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

5+ years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in data engineering, data platform architecture, and large-scale data systems3+ years of experience with working with Snowflake, Databricks, or other modern enterprise data warehousesExperience with data modeling, ETL architecture, and designing schemas that serve diverse analytical and ML use casesStrong programming experience across at least two of Java, Go, Python, and SQLDemonstrated experience leading technical direction and influencing best practices

Preferred

Experience working on end-to-end analytics pipelines from event collection to producing business-ready semanticsDeep familiarity with dbt or similar transformation frameworksFamiliarity with streaming and event-driven architectures (Kafka, Kinesis, Flink) at scaleExperience building or supporting AI/ML pipelines, feature stores, or model training infrastructureFamiliarity with data governance, data quality frameworks, and data cataloging toolsExperience in media, streaming, digital advertising, or consumer-facing products at scale

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $83,000.00 - $125,000.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
