The Department of Psychiatry is based on the Warneford Hospital site in Oxford – a friendly, welcoming place of work with an international reputation for excellence. The Department has a substantial research programme, with major funding from Medical Research Council (MRC), Wellcome Trust and National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and provides highly rated medical training in psychiatry. The Head of Department is Professor Belinda Lennox.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Oxford Martin Programme on Decarceration and the Forensic Psychiatry Research Group within the Department of Psychiatry, under the supervision of Professor Seena Fazel. The post holder will work independently to conduct systematic reviews on key issues in the criminal justice system, including sentencing and recidivism.
The Oxford Martin Programme on Decarceration is an interdisciplinary research collaboration that aims to generate evidence around sentencing and alternatives to imprisonment to impact policy-making in these areas.
About the Role
The post is part-time (20% FTE) and is funded for 12 months. It is based in the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital.
You will independently undertake systematic reviews and evidence synthesis, including meta-analysis where appropriate. You will coordinate and manage the project including managing research data and preparing reports, as well as managing your own academic research and administrative activities. You will analyse qualitative and quantitative data, contribute to publications, present findings at conferences
About You
You will have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field, along with demonstrable experience in conducting high-quality systematic reviews, including meta-analysis. You will possess sufficient specialist knowledge to contribute effectively within established research programmes and be confident managing your own academic research and associated activities. With previous experience of contributing to publications and presentations, you will be able to generate ideas for new research projects and potential research income. Excellent communication skills are essential.
