About this role

Fixed term (3 years)

London, UK

About us

The MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences (LMS) is a biomedical research institute where scientists and clinicians collaborate to advance the understanding of biology and its application to medicine. We are proud to launch our new Team Science initiative, marking a bold step toward a more collaborative, challenge-driven model of research.

Team Science

Scientific breakthroughs rarely come from isolation—they emerge when brilliant minds connect. Our Team Science approach is more than just multi-disciplinary; it’s a fundamentally different way of working. We foster deep collaboration across fields, institutions, industry, and society to tackle questions that no one could answer alone. As a postdoc, you’ll be part of a dynamic environment that values your individual expertise while amplifying it through shared infrastructure, collective ambition, and interdisciplinary innovation.

About the role

A specialist in chromosome biology is required to join the Reproductive Health and Fertility: Ageing, Sex and the Environment Team science initiative. The project’s main goal will be to investigate sex-specific differences in meiotic chromosome organisation and function in different organisms (C. elegans, mouse, and human samples) using super-resolution microscopy, proteomics, and 3D genome conformation experimental approaches.

About you

We are seeking an ambitious postdoctoral researcher interested in reproductive biology and chromosome architecture. Candidates must have a solid background in cell and molecular biology experimental approaches, including imaging skills. Experience with super-resolution microscopy and imaging of meiotic chromosomes will be beneficial, but not absolutely required. We are looking for real team players committed to understanding the fundamental biology underlying male and female gametogenesis, impact of the environment and ageing.
