Job summary

Are you an enthusiastic and motivated Orthotist looking to develop your career within a supportive NHS team? The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 5 Orthotist to join our dynamic service at Rotherham Hospital.

You will assess, design, and provide a wide range of orthotic devices for Patients across outpatient and inpatient settings. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, youll deliver Patient-centred care, support rehabilitation, and contribute to service development.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 5 Orthotist at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, you will deliver high-quality, Patient-centred orthotic care across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. You will assess Patients, develop treatment plans, and design, measure, and fit a range of orthotic devices to support mobility, function, and rehabilitation.

Working both independently and within a multidisciplinary team, you will manage your own caseload with support from Senior Clinicians. You will ensure accurate clinical documentation, maintain HCPC registration standards, and apply sound biomechanical principles in practice.

The role includes contributing to service development, audit, and continuing professional development activities. You will also support Patient education and provide training to colleagues where appropriate.

Core orthotic skills gained through a variety of student clinical placements/rotations and post-registration experience Experience in Patient assessment and formulating and delivering treatment plans (through student clinical placements and post-registration experience) Demonstrable experience of working as part of a team (through student clinical placements and post-registration experience)

Qualifications Essential

BSc (Hons) Degree in Prosthetics & Orthotics or equivalent qualification Current state registration with the Health Professions Council CPD Portfolio showing evidence of reflective practice, relevant experience, and additional training.

Desirable

Member of the British Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists

Knowledge Essential

Knowledge in all core areas of orthotics Evidence of CPD and reflective practice Awareness of the legal responsibilities of the profession and the associated code of ethics Appreciation of good record keeping and standards

Desirable

Basic understanding of clinical governance, health and safety, infection prevention and control, data protection, risk management Demonstrate an understanding of the NHS, NICE guidelines etc
