Overview of the role:
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join the Laboratory of Molecular Neurodegeneration at the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics, University of Oxford. The ideal candidate will be a motivated neuroscientist with experience in neurodegenerative disease models, lysosomal biology, and biomarker discovery. Expertise in in vivo experimentation and molecular techniques is essential, along with a collaborative and translational research mindset.
You will investigate the mechanisms of action of novel lysosomal modulators in transgenic mouse models of Parkinson’s disease, assess therapeutic efficacy, and identify biomarkers of lysosomal activity. This post is available for 24 months.
Key responsibilities:
Testing small molecule drugs targeting lysosomal function Biomarker analysis in mouse models Biochemistry, immunohistochemistry, and neuropathology on brain tissue Genotyping, breeding, and mouse line maintenance Contributing to research development and publications
Selection criteria:
PhD/DPhil in neuroscience or molecular biology (or near completion) Experience with transgenic mouse models and brain tissue analysis UK Home Office personal licence (or willingness to obtain) Strong motivation, creativity, and commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion
