Job summary

We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic GP to join the team at The Goodinge Group Practice. The role is for 4-6 clinic sessions per week.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will undertake the full range of duties associated with a Salaried GP within an NHS general practice setting. Responsibilities include conducting face-to-face and telephone consultations, reviewing and actioning test results, issuing prescriptions, managing clinical correspondence, and making appropriate referrals, as well as supporting the ongoing care of our registered patient population.

You will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary clinical and administrative team to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care within a friendly and supportive practice environment.

About us

The Goodinge Group Practice is a long-established GP practice situated in the north London borough of Islington, a five minute walk from Caledonian Road tube station on the Piccadilly line and a 10 minute walk from Kentish Town tube station on the northern line. The practice is located in a two-storey purpose-built health centre, which is owned by The Whittington Hospital and also provides a base for community staff, such as district nurses and health visitors.

There are approximately 12,500 patients registered with the Goodinge Practice.

The Practice Philosophy

The Goodinge Group Practice puts patient care at the heart of what it does and maintains the values of teamwork, professionalism and compassion in providing traditional family medicine to the local community. The practice is a GP training practice. We also provide supervision and training for clinical and non-clinical staff members.

The practices patients reflect the changing demographics of the area which continues to undergo regeneration though remains a population of mixed socio-economic status and ethnicities.

Salaried Doctor 4-6 sessions

We are seeking an enthusiastic GP at the Goodinge Group Practice with excellent clinical and communication skills to work with our friendly multi-disciplinary team and to contribute to further development of services for our patients.

Sessions to be over three non-consecutive days and include 2 PM surgeries

We are dedicated to delivering high quality care to a diverse urban population We make special efforts to provide continuity of care with our multidisciplinary team including Doctors, a Medicine management team clinical pharmacist and pharmacy technician, Practice nurses and HCAs as well as administrative and reception teams, on which we believe patient-centred care depends We care about our staff and offer mentoring and weekly team meetings. We are an established training practice, value education and hold regular medical student placements. Innovative management of results and correspondence being developed reducing administrative burden on all clinicians We want to support quality improvement, clinical leadership and your special interests We are offering a competitive package.

Protected administration time.

Strong emphasis on continuity of care, facilitated by our usual doctor system in which each GP takes ownership for their list of patients (including routine care, correspondence and prescribing)

BMA contract and paid medical defence subscriptions.

Informal visits to the practice are welcome.

Clinics are a mix of online, telephone and face to face consultations

Person Specification

Knowledge and Skills Essential

Good interpersonal and communication skills GMC registration with licence to practise Inclusion on the NHS Performers List Experience working as a GP in UK general practice Ability to manage a registered patient list and provide continuity of care Competence in managing acute presentations and chronic disease in primary care Safe and effective prescribing practice Strong communication skills with patients, families, and colleagues Ability to work independently while contributing to a multidisciplinary team Commitment to high-quality, patient-centred care Good record keeping and understanding of clinical governance, safeguarding, and risk management Ability to manage workload and prioritise effectively in a busy practice setting

Desirable

Experience in teaching, mentoring, or clinical supervision Experience in quality improvement, audit, or service development Additional clinical interests (e.g. diabetes, women's health, frailty, mental health, minor surgery) Experience working in inner-city, diverse, or high-deprivation populations Familiarity with EMIS and structured clinical templates
