Main duties of the job
The ANP Clinical Lead is responsible for delivering advanced autonomous clinical care whilst providing leadership, operational management and clinical governance for the Practice's same-day care and nursing services. You will assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with acute, urgent and undifferentiated conditions, independently prescribes within their scope of practice and provides face-to-face, telephone and digital consultations. Alternatively, you may focus on long term conditions.
The role provides day-to-day leadership of the same-day care service, ensuring safe and effective patient access, workforce planning and service delivery. Responsibilities include line management, supervision and development of same-day clinicians and the Lead Practice Nurse, supporting staff wellbeing, performance management, recruitment and workforce development.
You will also participate in clinical governance activities including complaints management, significant event reviews, risk management, IPC and CQC compliance. You will act as the IPC Lead, overseeing audits, compliance and staff education.
The ANP Clinical Lead is will provide clinical supervision, mentorship and education to the multidisciplinary team, promote evidence-based practice and contribute to organisational leadership, ensuring high standards of patient care, safety, professional practice and continuous service improvement across the Practice.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) or Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to join our leadership team as ANP Clinical Lead. This is an exciting opportunity for an autonomous clinician who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care whilst also leading service development, workforce improvement and clinical governance within a progressive primary care setting.
The successful candidate will spend the majority of their clinical time providing expert assessment, diagnosis and management of patients. Whilst the role has a strong focus on same-day care and urgent presentations, we are also interested in applicants who bring specialist expertise in a long-term condition area such as respiratory disease, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, frailty, women's health or another area that will complement and strengthen our existing clinical team. Applicants should be able to demonstrate how their clinical interests, qualifications and experience will add value to patient care and support future service development within the practice.
Alongside clinical responsibilities, the postholder will provide operational and professional leadership for the same-day care and nursing teams. This includes workforce development, clinical supervision, service planning, quality improvement, complaints and incident management, infection prevention and control leadership, and supporting delivery of strategic objectives.
The role offers the opportunity to influence how services are designed and delivered, develop innovative models of care, support and mentor colleagues, and contribute to the ongoing development of a high-performing multidisciplinary team. Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration or Registered Allied Health Professional with current HCPC registration (for ACP applicants). Master's Degree in Advanced Clinical Practice or equivalent advanced practice qualification. Independent Prescriber qualification (V300) with current prescribing practice. Evidence of advanced clinical assessment and diagnostic skills. Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to advanced practice. Advanced history taking and physical examination qualification or equivalent demonstrable competency. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Evidence of leadership, management or supervisory training and experience.
Desirable
Advanced Clinical Practice MSc (completed where trainee route not applicable). Qualification in Leadership and Management (e.g. ILM, CMI, NHS Leadership Academy programmes). Non-Medical Prescribing qualification with substantial prescribing experience in primary care. Long-Term Condition qualification or specialist qualification (e.g. Diabetes, Respiratory, Cardiovascular Disease, Frailty, Women's Health). Independent Clinical Examination qualification. Teaching, mentorship or practice assessor qualification. Quality Improvement, Audit or Clinical Governance qualification/training. Infection Prevention and Control qualification or lead experience. Safeguarding Level 3 Children and Adults training. Experience of supervising, mentoring or line managing clinical staff.

Minimum 3 years' experience working as an ANP/ACP in primary care, urgent care, community or equivalent setting. Experience of autonomous clinical decision-making and management of undifferentiated presentations. Experience of independent prescribing. Experience of clinical leadership, supervision or service development. Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team.
