Job Description
Position Overview: Wellstar Medical Group is seeking a skilled and compassionate Outpatient Psychiatrist to join our dynamic team at the Windy Hill location. This is a full-time position where you will provide high-quality psychiatric care to a diverse patient population. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, a commitment to evidence-based practice, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Patient Care: Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment for adult patients with a wide range of mental health disorders, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, and more.
• Treatment Planning: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that may include medication management, psychotherapy, or other therapeutic interventions.
• Medication Management: Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, monitoring for efficacy and side effects, and adjusting treatment as needed.
• Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, social workers, nurses, and primary care physicians, to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, and progress notes using Wellstar’s electronic medical record system (Epic).
• Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and strategies for managing symptoms.
• Crisis Intervention: Provide crisis intervention services as needed, including risk assessment and management of patients with suicidal or homicidal ideation.
• Consultation: Offer psychiatric consultations to other medical professionals within the Wellstar system, providing expertise on complex cases.
• Professional Development: Stay current with advancements in psychiatry by participating in continuing education, attending relevant conferences, and engaging in peer consultations.
• Compliance: Adhere to all regulatory and accreditation standards, as well as Wellstar policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
• Education: MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Training: Completed residency in Psychiatry from an accredited program.
• Licensure: Current and unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of Georgia.
• Board Certification: Board-certified or board-eligible in Psychiatry.
• Experience: Prior experience in outpatient psychiatric care is preferred but not required.
• Skills: Strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency in using electronic medical records (Epic experience preferred).
