TASKS AND RESPONSABILITIES
Under the supervision of the Engineering Manager or of the Customer's Project Manager, you will be responsible for:
• Design of MW point-to-point links using Pathloss 5.1/6;
• Creating MW installation instructions based on industry best practices;
• On site validation and supervision of MW installations;
• Troubleshooting issues on MW links and networks;;
• MW Waveguide transmission line sweeps measurements
• Executing test cases in customer MW lab;
• MW Test results analysis and troubleshooting;
• Communicating with client, partners, and equipment vendor;
• Requirements definition and network analysis.
Secondary responsibilities
• Simulations using modeling tools such as: InfoVista Planet, IBWave, Ekahau including defining propagation models, 4G/5G frame structure and simulation parameters;
• Design of passive and active DAS systems, small cell, micro cell, pico cell;
• Link budgets, coverage and capacity planning of LTE, 5G-NR, and Wi-Fi networks;
• Design of cellular networks using LTE, LTE+, 5G-NR, Wi-Fi technologies;
• Design of private cellular networks for Industry 4.0 and critical infrastructure operators such as Manufacturers and processors of critical materials, mines, commercial and passenger rail, and electric utilities;
• Creating BOM and CAPEX and OPEX estimates for cellular and Wi-Fi networks;
• Drafting of functional and technical specifications and requirements;
• Drafting of specifications and performance estimates;
• Selection and design of RF transmission sites ;
• Development of interconnection specifications;
• Follow-up of network expertise and optimization ;
• Quality of service audit for DAS and small cell installations;
• Cellular coverage and performance measurements - walk-test & drive-test.
PROFILE AND REQUIREMENTS
• Electrical technologist or engineering degree from an accredited institution;
• Member of Engineers and Geoscientists BC considered an asset;
• 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in the RF domain;
• Knowledge of legacy and modern MW equipment including but not limited to the following configurations:
• TDM equipment
• Long-haul, high-powered equipment
• All indoor installations
• Frequency Diversity, Quad Diversity
• Space diversity, split Tx
• ACM
• Knowledge of common MW lab and field installation and troubleshooting equipment:
• Spectrum Analyzer
• RF Generator
• Vector Network Analyser (VNA)
• RF Power Meter
• BER test set
• Experience in MW design;
• Knowledge of MW deployment issues and troubleshooting;
• Knowledge and experience in the BC market (operators and infrastructure present);
• Knowledge of MW service deployment issues;
• Good communication skills, written and oral (French spoken an asset);
• Planning, design, coordination and project management;
• Autonomous, responsible, and self-motivated;
• Good verbal and written communication skills;
• Anticipate travel within Metro Vancouver and greater BC and Alberta.
