About this role
Role Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Data Replication Engineer experienced in Stelo/StarQuest’s Data Replication tools (SQDR & SQDR Plus). The role focuses on designing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing replication pipelines across diverse source and target systems including DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, and cloud data platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
• Install, configure, and manage SQDR and SQDR Plus environments, including intermediate hosts and control databases.
• Implement and monitor Change Data Capture (CDC) using native log APIs or ODBC, depending on source system.
• Design and execute replication topologies: one-to-one, hub-and-spoke, or fan-out.
• Configure and maintain replication jobs, agents, services, and web consoles.
• Ensure replication resilience through failover and load balancing configurations.
• Troubleshoot replication errors, log miner failures, ODBC/API connectivity, and performance
bottlenecks.
• Tune performance by optimizing parallel jobs, core allocations, memory, and thread usage.
• Collaborate with DBAs and infrastructure teams for archive log settings, DB triggers, and schema
changes.
• Define and enforce SLA thresholds, alerts, and monitoring dashboards.
• Maintain security posture of replication systems (role-based access, logging, auditing).
• Document replication architecture, recovery procedures, and client-specific playbooks.
• Participate in disaster recovery and high availability validation testing.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years experience in data replication or integration engineering roles.
• Certification in relevant database technologies or data integration tools is a plus.
Technical Skills:
• Experience with Stelo/StarQuest SQDR & SQDR Plus, including installation, architecture, and
management.
• Strong understanding of CDC concepts, including transaction log mining and archive log management.
• Knowledge of source databases: DB2 LUW/zOS, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL.
• Familiarity with ODBC/JDBC connectivity, native APIs (e.g., Oracle LogMiner, DB2 capture agents).
• Linux and Windows server administration skills.
• Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure Synapse, AWS RDS) a plus.
• Scripting experience (Shell, PowerShell, Python) for automation and alerts is advantageous.
