About this role

Viwinco is a window and door manufacturer that's been crafting quality products for decades. Our R&D team is the engine behind our innovation — we prototype, test, break things (on purpose), fix them, and make them better. We're looking for a hands-on engineer who's equally at home behind a CAD screen and in front of a welder.

As our R&D Engineer, you'll be the go-to person for designing and building the tools, fixtures, and equipment that make our manufacturing floor run smarter and faster. This isn't a desk job — you'll be sketching designs one hour and machining parts the next.

You'll work directly with both our R&D and Operations teams, meaning you'll see your ideas go from a sketch to running production in real time.

What You'll Actually Do

• Design, prototype, and build custom fixtures, tools, and small equipment for R&D and production

• Utilize knowledge of welding, metal fabrication, and pneumatics to support the design and creation of mechanical components for both R & D and production use.

• Create and revise CAD drawings (AutoCAD, Fusion 360) for window systems and manufacturing equipment

• Troubleshoot mechanical systems, part designs, and production equipment issues

• Support testing, validation, and certification activities for windows and doors

• Collaborate with Engineering, Design, and Production on new products and process improvements

• Participate in Lean/Kaizen initiatives — help us get better, not just busier

• Keep clear documentation of designs, modifications, and prototypes

• Champion safety: PPE, housekeeping, and designing with safety in mind

• Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Experience:

• 4+ years of experience in an engineering or R&D support role (manufacturing or construction materials preferred)

• Solid knowledge of steel welding, metal fabrication, and pneumatic systems

• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent)

• Experience creating technical drawings and assembly instructions

• Strong problem-solving instincts and the ability to collaborate across teams

• HS Diploma minimum; Associate Degree or higher preferred

Preferred Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering

• Experience in window/door manufacturing or construction materials

• Lean manufacturing or process improvement background

• Familiarity with quality control and industrial safety standards

Why You'll Love It Here

• Your ideas become real products — fast

• A shop floor full of interesting problems to solve

• Collaborative team that values people who think with their hands

• Stable, growing company with decades of manufacturing history
