About this role
Specific Responsibilities
• Assist in the development of a multicultural and multi‑sensory recreational program, including Special Physical Education, Art, Music, and other therapeutic or leisure activities.
• Collaborate with supervisors and childcare workers to implement planned recreational activities for all residents, both on‑grounds and off‑grounds.
• Complete all required documentation for recreation activities on a daily basis, as well as summaries and reports for weekly Family Team Conferences.
• Assist with the planning and implementation of campus celebrations and special events.
• Ensure that all rules, regulations, and safety procedures are followed and enforced at all times.
• Work directly with residents after school, on weekends, and during school vacations, with scheduling flexibility based on the needs of the RTC.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support program operations.
Qualifications
• Associate's degree in education, Special Education, Recreation, Physical Education, or Creative Arts Therapies
• Experience working with individuals with MR/DD populations
• Strong spelling, grammar, and written communication skills
• Computer literate with the ability to complete electronic documentation
• Valid and clean New York State Driver's License

Working Conditions
• 15 hours per week, Permanent schedule of four (4) days per week, 3:30 PM – 6:30 PM
• 12 hours weekend, Saturday and Sunday 11 AM - 5 PM
• Availability required for special trips, events, and activities
Scope of Responsibility
• Carry out assignments deemed appropriate and necessary to support the overall functioning of the department.
