About this role

JOB PURPOSE

As a Van Sales Driver you are responsible for safely and efficiently driving our sales van for sales and delivery purposes. In this role, you will be assigned a sales officer, a sales van and an established route.

You must exhibit a high level of professionalism. The role demands the ability to work long and irregular hours, including weekends and travel, and thus requires flexibility and availability.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Driving Responsibilities:

• Safely driving the sales van for sales activities.

• Delivering purchase orders to customers.

• Ensure accurate loading and offloading of the truck.

• Safely and efficiently transporting products to and from various locations.

• Maintaining a high level of awareness of surroundings to avoid potential threats and risks.

• Accounting for the safe and timely delivery of purchased products.

• Ensuring delivery documents are accurately endorsed.

• Preventing damage to the delivery van and the company products being transported.

• Taking purchase orders and delivering products to customers.

• Regular reporting of market Intelligence and competitor activities.

• Support sales activities for the designated products and services

Safety and Security:

• Ensuring the safety and security of goods and passengers at all times.

• Being prepared to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.

• Knowledge of safe driving practices and defensive driving techniques.

• Knowing and following safety protocols in low-visibility and inclement weather conditions.

Professionalism and Discretion:

• Maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor.

• Exercising discretion and confidentiality, especially regarding trade secrets of our products, and sensitive information about the company and its products.

Route Planning and Navigation:

• Familiarity with local and sometimes regional routes to ensure timely arrivals.

Vehicle Maintenance:

• Routinely inspecting the vehicle for any issues and ensuring it is in good working condition.

• Performing basic van maintenance tasks, such as checking tire pressure, and gas and oil levels.

• Arranging for maintenance and repairs as needed.

Assisting with Other Duties:

• Running errands or performing other tasks as requested.

INTERNAL RELATIONS

• Maintains contact with all team members.

EXTERNAL RELATIONS

• Liaises with relevant government, transport and licensing authorities as required, and communicates professionally with external contacts as directed by the Van Sales Officer.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR ASSETS

• Responsible for protection, conservation and efficient utilization of all assets assigned by the company for work.

COMPETENCIES

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• SHS or equivalent at a minimum (optional).

• 3 to 5 years’ experience.

• Proven experience in driving a (sales) van.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

• Must possess at least Class C License from DVLA.

• Knowledge of driving laws and regulations.

• Ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance.

• Basic understanding of vehicle mechanics and troubleshooting.

• Basic English communication skills and at least knowledge of one official local language.
