About this role
PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of multiple pieces of construction equipment. The Equipment Operator is proficient in the use of a diverse range of construction equipment, including, Excavators, Loaders, Dozers, Rollers, Graders, Skid Steers and other pieces of equipment.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
• Operate multiple pieces of construction equipment used in construction in accordance with company procedures and safety regulations.
• Ensure proper operation of equipment by performing pre-operation and regular checks on their functionality.
• Maneuver heavy equipment into loading or unloading positions, following signals from crew as needed; check that the vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
• Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance.
• Use various pieces of equipment to perform fine grading and finishing, sloping and banking, backfilling, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating and stockpiling.
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the equipment.
• Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with the principles of the company’s Policies and Procedures.
• Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s Safety Program.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
• 3+ years of experience operating equipment.
• Knowledge of proper operation of equipment as well as safety standards.
• Thorough knowledge of construction.
• OSHA competent person trained in trench and excavation safety.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
• Frequently required to walk, stand, talk, hear, see, sit, climb, balance, stoop, and kneel.
• Lift or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision ability required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
COMMENTS: Travel to various worksites may be required. Pay commensurate will experience. Reports to Superintendent. EEO.
