Organization: PAMF-Palo Alto Medical Foundation ALD Position Overview: Entry level position that performs all of the pre-tests, refraction's, with training and competency, assist physicians with exams and/or procedures. Standing rooming and blood pressures. Job Description: These Principal Accountabilities, Requirements and Qualifications are not exhaustive, but are merely the most descriptive of the current job. EDUCATION:

• HS Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:

• COA-Certified Ophthalmic Assistant within 18 months

• OR COT-Certified Ophthalmic Technician within 18 months

• BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

• 1 year recent relevant experience

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

• Skill in operating a computer, and general office skills.

• Problem identification and problem solving.

• The ability to understand and carry out assigned orders by physician or supervisors.

• Must have customer service skills with patients, physicians, co-workers and all supervisor/management positions.

• Ability to make simple mathematical computations, work independently, effectively prioritize tasks, exercise initiative, judgment, and decision making, work effectively as team member, establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees and the public.

• Knowledge, understanding, and ability to operate visual testing equipment.

• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.

• Ability to efficiently operate Ophthalmology equipment.

• Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities paying particular attention to detail.

• Verbal and written communication skills for regular contact with physicians, patients and staff.

• Competency in basic Ophthalmic Assisting skills such as chart documentation, taking vital signs, preparing patients for exam, performing ophthalmology testing.

• Knowledge of the most commonly used terms (ICD-10) in Ophthalmology.

Pay Range is $36.24 to $47.10 / hour The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs. Base pay is only one component of Sutter Health’s comprehensive total rewards program. Eligible positions also include a comprehensive benefits package.
