The Gospel Choir Director provides artistic, academic, and spiritual leadership for the institution's Gospel choir. This role is responsible for cultivating a vibrant choral ensemble that reflects the rich tradition of Gospel Music.
Essential Functions
• Lead rehearsals in preparation for chapel services, concerts, conferences, and other institutional events
• Intentionally integrate faith and music in a manner consistent with the institution's mission
• Liaise with music department faculty and campus service providers to coordinate events and performances
• Foster partnerships with Chicago-area churches and schools to support reciprocal relationships, worship services, and off-campus performances
• Oversee the Gospel choir course in adherence to departmental and institutional policies and procedures
• Attend occasional event planning meetings and dress rehearsals
• Manage the ensemble's budget

Minimum Requirements
• Master's Degree in Music. Consideration will be given to candidates possessing commensurate professional experience in lieu of an M.M.
• Demonstrated expertise in Gospel music
• Experience directing vocal ensembles, preferably in academic or church settings
• Ability to work with students of varying musical backgrounds
• Alignment with the Institute's mission and doctrinal statement.
