Join a high-impact temporary one-year role leading project contract strategy across the full lifecycle, from planning and sourcing through negotiation, award, commercial management, and close-out. You’ll drive contract changes, resolve claims, support warranty management, and help deliver strong commercial outcomes while partnering with teams across Commercial, Legal, Finance, EH&S, and Category Management. This is an exciting opportunity for someone energized by negotiation, problem-solving, and influencing key business decisions.
Minimum Requirements:
• A Bachelor’s degree preferably in Business or Supply Chain • 10 years of related professional experience and/or a combination of commercial and technical work experience • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Products and SAP • Strong financial and business acumen and commercial capabilities, ability to lead others in connecting ideas, events and circumstances to identify effective business solutions in a complex environment • Understanding of the interfaces with project teams • Skilled in contract management, contract and procurement law

Responsibilities:
• Lead project contract strategy and execution across the full lifecycle, including planning, sourcing, negotiation, contract formation, change management, commercial management, claims, warranty support, and close-out. • Manage contract changes, contractor claims, back-charges, and warranty issues, developing negotiation strategies and consulting with cross-functional stakeholders on complex matters. • Review, certify, and approve contractor invoices in accordance with established procedures and signing authorities. • Develop and oversee contractor performance assessments and ensure completion prior to contract close-out. • Maintain contract tracking and control systems, ensuring compliance with project plans, sourcing and commercial strategies, procurement and contracting requirements, and approval authorities. • Provide SCM leadership and guidance to the integrated project team, ensuring adherence to SCM processes, alignment with project deliverables and gated processes, and escalation of execution irregularities as needed. • Build strong relationships across project and functional teams to align priorities, facilitate stakeholder discussions, and support effective project execution.
Location and other Key details:
• This is an office-based role. You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W. • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday • Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work • This is a temporary position for a period of 12 months
