POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Sr. School Operations Manager & Handyman/Custodian is responsible for maintaining assigned areas of buildings and grounds (including but not limited to Main Classroom Building and Community Center) in a clean, sanitary, and safe condition. This is a part time, non-exempt, hourly position.
Responsibilities and Duties
• Sweeping , dusting and mopping of all floors and baseboards
• Hallways, lobby, admin office, classrooms, food prep room and lounge
• Clean lint, dust and wipe down classroom desk and other furniture
• Vacuum carpets from library and wipe down furniture within library
• Cleans all restrooms and restocks paper and soap supplies
• Remove any graffiti from walls, desks, furniture, etc.
• Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies
• Empties trash receptacles and bags trash for proper disposal
• inside and outside
• Locks doors and turns off lights after cleaning areas
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
• Assists in loading and unloading of supplies as needed
• Arranges boxes, materials, and other supplies in a neat and orderly manner
• Sets up tables and chairs for various functions and events as required
• Assists in maintenance of grounds and exterior of the building
• i.e. pick up trash in parking lot
• Assists maintenance personnel in major repair work
• Opens and secures the building when necessary.
• Identify and report potential safety hazards within the school building and grounds
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures
• Shift regular work hours as needed to accommodate repairs that affect classrooms or other spaces used during the school day
• Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Experience and Requirements
• High School degree or GED preferred
• Experience with cleaning materials, such as soap, detergents, and solvents
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge of methods of cleaning floors, lavatories, and other areas of school buildings
• General grounds maintenance practices, experience with machinery and equipment
• Ability to safely use common power and hand tools.
• Knowledge of basic carpentry skills.
• Attention to detail, positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Self-starter with good time management skills, well organized and apt at problem solving.

• Must clear a LiveScan criminal background check
• Must clear a TB Risk Assessment
• Must complete Mandated Reporter training
$20/hour
