About this role

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Plans and coordinates the initiation of trail and monitor the trail throughout the study period.

• Support the Scientific Partner in development of the trail protocol, register the trail in ClinicalTrails.gov and publication of the trail protocol in international reputable journal.

• Coordinates the day-to-day activities of the trail and technical support field staff specifically engaged in the carrying out of research protocol.

• Monitors the progress of research activities; develops and maintains records of research activities.

• Facilitate effective coordination between Mercy Corps, scientific partners, and international collaborators to maintain smooth operations and address technical challenges.

• Collaborate with the Principal Investigator (PI) to monitor study progress, timelines, and project milestones, ensuring research objectives are met within the specified period.

• Organize regular meetings as needed.

• Collect, organize, and analyze project data with the research team, ensuring accuracy and integrity.

• Contribute to data interpretation and support the development of reports, adhering to ethical standards and data protection protocols.

• Draft abstracts, reports, and other materials for disseminating findings to scientific audiences.

• Ensure the study remains on schedule and within budget.

• Conduct spot checks and quality control measures to verify data accuracy and consistency.

• Collaborate with other research team members, particularly the senior project coordinator, Health economist to ensure project success.

• Design and implement data collection strategies, aligning with project goals to acquire accurate, meaningful data.

• Work effectively with cross-functional teams, researchers, data analysts, and stakeholders to foster a productive work environment.

• Prepare and deliver clear and concise project reports, sharing progress, outcomes, and insights with internal teams and stakeholders.

• Manage and contribute to the preparation of research papers for publication in reputable international journals, showcasing expertise and field contributions.

• Ensure adherence to Mercy Corps and donor guidelines, including ethical standards in research practices.

• Support the implementation of project monitoring tools to assess and enhance program quality and effectiveness.

• Based in Islamabad, with potential travel to project sites across Pakistan.

• Any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Reports Directly To: Senior Project Manager

Works Directly With: Project International Collaborator, Project Scientific Partner, Health Economist, Senior Project Coordinator, ACF Team, Finance Department and field teams.

Knowledge and Experience

• Postgraduate degree in public health (MS-PH) with 3 years of experience in conducting research studies, preferably in TB, with at least 3 publications in reputable journals.

• Experience of conducting the randomize control trails (RCT) or cluster randomize crossover trail (CRXO) and operation research with strong knowledge of quantitative studies is desirable.

• Strong aptitude for scientific writing, research publication and familiarity with project management principles, demonstrated through the successful execution of research initiatives.

• Expertise data collection methodologies to ensure high-quality data acquisition for informed decision-making.

• Sound knowledge of operational research methodologies, with experience applying innovative approaches to study design.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.

• Strong interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

• Knowledge of research ethics and regulations, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, committed to high-quality work and meeting deadlines.

• Comfort in working in diverse settings, including outdoor and field environments.

• Experience working with an NGO or in the development sector is preferred.

• Prior experience managing research components, with familiarity with various donors, is an added advantage.

• Proven ability to maintain liaison with governmental and non-governmental partners.

• Proficiency in written and spoken English, with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
