About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our Total Rehab Care team. Under the direction and supervision of licensed Physical Therapists, you will provide hands-on treatment and follow-up care to patients across the lifespan—from newborns to geriatric populations. Your work will play a critical role in helping patients achieve their highest possible level of function and independence.
This position is ideal for a PTA who values teamwork, patient-centered care, and professional growth within a collaborative rehab environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide direct patient care in accordance with the Physical Therapist's established plan of care and Maryland licensure guidelines
• Administer therapeutic interventions, monitor patient status, and report changes requiring reassessment
• Collect objective data and document patient progress accurately and timely
• Assist with discharge planning, referrals, and coordination of continuing care
• Educate patients and caregivers on treatment plans, exercises, and equipment use
• Collaborate with Physical Therapists, physicians, and interdisciplinary rehab team members
• Participate in case conferences and team meetings
• Supervise and mentor aides, students, observers, and volunteers as assigned
Qualifications
Education
• Graduate of an approved Physical Therapy Assistant program
• Associate of Arts degree required
Licensure & Certification
• Active Maryland Physical Therapy Assistant license or temporary Maryland license pending state board examination or reciprocity
• Current BLS/CPR certification required
Experience
• No prior clinical experience required beyond educational training
• Ability to perform all job functions independently after initial orientation period

• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to learn and use electronic medical records and point-of-care documentation systems
• Comfortable working with diverse patient populations and care needs
Physical & Work Requirements
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, pull, and assist patients throughout the workday
• May be required to lift or transfer patients and equipment
• Exposure to blood and bodily fluids and typical healthcare clinical environments
