About the Group
The Productivity Group encompasses the product vertical teams that make up the Visual Suite: Docs, Email, Sheets, Presentations, Whiteboards, and Websites. It helps drive our product offerings in this space, making them cohesive and productive tools for our customers. Each of the teams are largely Frontend specific, with some BE/MLE resources consolidated into a platform team helping the verticals with their feature work.
While we have shipped world class products, there is still much to be done. We have a packed upcoming schedule of features that will take the Visual Suite to new heights. Expect a strong focus on both AI/ML integration, interactivity, and other power user features.
What you’ll do (responsibilities)
Build alignment & momentum towards a common goal across teams, groups, and timezonesPartnering with product and design for road mapping, planning resourcing and goal setting. Taking the vision of the product and making it happenGrow a team vertically & horizontally - invest in our people & add new onesCoach up and coming coaches to further develop leadership capability across the teamCreating a collaborative & open team environment, where everyone can do the best work of their livesKeeping situational awareness across multiple complicated workstreams & keeping the broader company informed.Connect the dots from now to our long term product visionRuthlessly prioritise - keep us focused on the critical problems, and keep the noise away.Design, develop and deploy solutions and hands-on software development – working closely with leads, designers, and product managers to deliver features and experiments to our customers worldwideFacilitate knowledge sharing and optimally advocate for engineering needsModels initiative and ownership in achieving goals, improving processes and solutionsFinds opportunities for cross-team collaboration to work on new insights and improvements that help achieve our goals What we're looking for
Ability to rally a wide range of people, teams, and groups across the organisation towards a common goalBalancing short-term pragmatism with a steadfast commitment to building the right thing for our long-term goals.A strong technical backgroundAbility to lead, coach & grow a strong, senior, engineering teamTrack record of empowering other leaders and building a diverse teamExperience delivering a product from early stages to a full launch in a tightly constrained environmentCommercial experience in a software development environment, ideally with experience in building internal/external SDKs or APIs.Our frontend stack consists of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React, TypeScript, MobX, etc.. Experience in some of these would be valuable but is not required.Firmly grounded computer science and engineering fundamentals including asynchronous programming, data structures, solution design, architecture, and design patterns.Previous experience in working collaboratively with team members and communicating effectively.Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to break large projects down into smaller ones and deliver on them through others.Passion for performance debugging and benchmarkingGood written and verbal communication skills.
