RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions –
• Maintain lawns, trim trees, and shrubs, as well as provide snow removal during the winter for all campus properties. This may include late night/early morning/or Holiday hours.
• Assist with general campus landscaping.
• Help move equipment, furniture, and materials.
• Work as a team under the direction of the lead grounds position.
• Work with maintenance personnel to support all campus entities.
• Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
• Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices.
• Serve actively on campus committees.
Secondary –
• Supervise summer and part-time help as required.
• Perform other responsibilities related to grounds and maintenance and as assigned by the Director of Facilities or Facilities Coordinators.
QUALIFICATIONS (Essential):
• Grounds keeping experience required.
• Working knowledge of turf, and tree and shrub maintenance preferred.
• Working knowledge of ornamental flower production preferred.
• A good driving record is required.
• Applicator’s license expected (HutchCC will provide this training opportunity).
• Master Gardeners certificate expected (HutchCC will provide this training opportunity).
• CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is preferred.
• Must be neat, clean, and possess a positive attitude.
• Must be willing to cooperate with colleagues of all agencies, and willing to work in different maintenance departments as needed.
• Physical requirements include but are not limited to bending, pushing, pulling, climbing, stooping, and regular lifting up to 100 pounds; possess eye/hand/foot coordination sufficient to operate equipment, tools, etc.
• Heavy/Indoor-outdoor work environment.
• May work in adverse conditions with possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, tissue, and communicable disease; understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; Visual acuity to view a computer terminal; use appropriate judgment and apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations.
• Successful completion of a physical capacity and drug screen required.
• Mental requirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.
• Physical and mental qualifications must be performed with or without a reasonable accommodation.
• The qualifications listed are guidelines for selection purposes; alternative qualifications may be substituted if sufficient to perform the duties.
HOURLY WAGE and STATUS:
The hourly rate of pay is commensurate with qualifications as determined by HutchCC administration. This full-time support staff position is 12 months annual, benefit eligible, at-will, and nonexempt.
