About this role
An IT Infrastructure Architect is responsible for the overall technical vision and design of an organization's IT infrastructure. This includes systems, networks, storage, and cloud environments. This strategic role requires extensive technical expertise and strong leadership to guide IT initiatives, set standards, and ensure the infrastructure is robust, resilient, and aligned with business needs.
Key responsibilities
Architect and design solutions: Develop comprehensive blueprints and roadmaps for on-premise, cloud (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), and hybrid IT environments. Design highly available and scalable infrastructure solutions that support business objectives.Assess and optimize infrastructure: Evaluate existing systems to identify areas for modernization, improvement, and cost optimization. Conduct capacity and performance analyses to ensure the infrastructure can handle current and future needs.Ensure security and compliance: Design infrastructure with security as a core component, ensuring all systems meet regulatory standards and are protected from cyber threats. Collaborate with security teams to enforce governance and best practices.Lead and mentor teams: Provide technical leadership and guidance to infrastructure and engineering teams. Mentor junior architects and promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement.Manage projects and vendors: Oversee the technical execution of large-scale infrastructure projects, such as cloud migration or data center consolidation. Manage relationships and contracts with vendors and third-party service providers.Document and communicate: Create detailed technical documentation, including architectural diagrams, design specifications, and implementation guidelines. Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Innovate and research: Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends. Evaluate new tools and solutions to continuously improve the organization's infrastructure capabilities. Qualifications and requirements
Essential qualifications for an IT Infrastructure Architect include a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, often coupled with a master's degree.
Experience requirements: 5+ years with cloud platform knowledge, and designing complex, large-scale solutions.
Key technical skills include expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, virtualization technologies, networking, security, storage, containerization, and DevOps practices. Important soft skills are communication, problem-solving, leadership, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Must be able to work in CET hours (MY time 2pm–11pm)
