About this role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanic to join us and play a pivotal role in the success of the depot by ensuring that our customers can hire what they want, when they need it through the efficient servicing and maintaining a variety of vehicles within the SIXT Van & Truck fleet. As part of our high-performing depot team, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing vehicles either on site at our Depot in Stansted or at a customers location. YOUR ROLE AT SIXT
Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and servicing on vans and trucksDiagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipmentCarry out repairs including brakes, suspension, engine work, steering, exhausts, and transmissionConduct MOT preparation and post-rental inspectionsEnsure all work meets DVSA, manufacturer, and SIXT safety and quality standardsMaintain accurate service and repair recordsCommunicate vehicle issues and repair timelines with operations and fleet teamsAdhere to workshop safety protocols and maintain a clean, orderly workspaceSupport in breakdown recovery or mobile servicing when requiredUse OEM or approved replacement parts in line with warranty and lease agreementsAdhere to all health and safety procedures and company policies YOUR SKILLS MATTER
Adaptability You excel in a dynamic environment and can work under pressure, both independently and as part of a teamAttention to Detail You have a keen eye for detail, ensuring accurate completion of all handover paperwork and vehicle inspectionsCommunication You have strong communication skills, enabling clear and friendly interactions with customers, even in busy settingsFlexibility You are open to work on a shift rotation to cover branch operating hours, ensuring continuous serviceDriving License You hold a valid driving license and bring a minimum of 12 months driving experienceProven experience working as a mechanic/ in a field-based role with a relevant mechanical qualification or time served is essentialStrong diagnostic and problem-solving skills and familiarity with vehicle diagnostic tools and workshop equipmentKnowledge of HSE regulations and safe workshop practices
