Role Summary The SVP Data, Insights & Analytics is responsible for ensuring strategy is grounded in rigorous, objective data and translated into clear, actionable decisions. This leader serves as a strategic partner to Commercial executive leadership, owning the end-to-end process of turning market, customer, and portfolio intelligence into prioritized actions, resource allocation decisions, and measurable outcomes.
This role is not a traditional reporting or request-driven analytics function. Instead, it operates as a decision engine, proactively framing choices, delivering clear recommendations, and enabling leadership to make faster, more confident strategic and operational decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Decision Support & Recommendation Ownership
• Frame critical business questions as structured decision problems (options, trade-offs, risks, and upside)
• Lead development of clear, actionable recommendations across key topics such as:
• Market selection and expansion
• Customer segmentation and targeting
• Coverage and staffing models
• Capital and resource allocation
• Serve as a thought partner to Commercial executive leadership on both strategy formulation and execution
• Drive decision clarity and alignment across leadership teams
Market, Customer Segment & Competitive Intelligence
• Lead market sizing, segmentation, and prioritization using internal and third-party data sources
• Identify where the bank can competitively win, and where it should not compete
• Deliver actionable insights on customer needs, behaviors, and profitability drivers
• Translate market intelligence into clear go-to-market implications, including:
• Coverage model design
• Industry/vertical focus
• Investment priorities
Portfolio & Growth Driver Analytics
• Analyze portfolio performance to identify true drivers of growth, profitability, and client primacy
• Develop scenario-based analyses outlining requirements to achieve strategic outcomes (e.g., staffing changes, pricing adjustments, product expansion)
• Support strategic planning, budgeting, and capital allocation with rigorous, data-backed trade-off analysis
• Identify and quantify opportunities for profitable growth and optimization
Strategy Execution & Performance Enablement
• Translate strategic priorities into measurable outcomes, KPIs, and scorecards
• Establish a consistent leadership cadence linking:
• Strategy
• Decision-making
• Performance tracking
• Ensure metrics reflect strategic intent, avoiding disconnected or purely operational reporting
• Monitor performance against strategic goals and recommend course corrections
Governance, Standards & Operating Model
• Define and govern core Commercial strategy metrics, assumptions, and definitions
• Establish a scalable operating model that prioritizes decision-oriented work over ad hoc reporting
• Set clear intake guardrails and prioritization frameworks
• Partner cross-functionally (Finance, Marketing, Credit, Treasury, Operations) to drive alignment, data integrity, and adoption
• Build organizational capability around data-driven decision-making
Leadership & Team Responsibilities
• Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team spanning strategy, analytics, and insights
• Foster a culture of intellectual rigor, accountability, and proactive problem solving
• Elevate the role of data and insights as a core strategic asset across Commercial Banking
• Influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment across complex, matrixed environments
Qualifications
• 12+ years of experience in strategy, analytics, consulting, or financial services, with significant leadership experience
• Proven track record of translating data and analysis into business decisions and measurable outcomes
• Deep expertise in Commercial Banking, including portfolio dynamics, client segmentation, and growth strategy (preferred)
• Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior leaders and drive alignment
• Exceptional problem structuring, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and operating in complex organizational environments
