About this role

About the role:

As Section Manager you will play a pivotal role in supporting world-leading research programmes and will be responsible for the management of a portfolio of grants. You will work directly with Principal Investigators to provide support and advice in preparing new research grant and contract applications.

What you would be doing:

Supporting the Department Manager, you will work collaboratively in a team with other Section Managers. You will be supporting the research activities of the Department, acting as a conduit between the Department and the Joint Research Office, with regard to finance, project management, pre and post award management of grants, and general administration, including responsibility for maintaining and updating records and reporting.

What we are looking for:

You will be an excellent team worker, collaborating effectively with the Department Manager, other Section Managers, academic staff and project teams, as well as other colleagues in the Department, external partners and collaborating organisations and grant funding bodies.

Strong and proven experience of administrative work and financial processes within a Higher Education setting and excellent communication skills are essential to represent the work of the Department at all levels, both within Imperial College and externally. We are looking for someone who is able to manage their workload through conflicting priorities, who is highly numerate, can work to a high level of accuracy and with attention to detail.

Further Information

This is a part-time, fixed term post (28 hours per week).

This role is for a fixed-term contract till December 2029 (in the first instance).
