Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Research Assistant within UCD School of Biomolecular and Biomedical Science.
High quality coastal and inland waters are critically important to the sustainability of many local communities. However, such waters are frequently subjected to pollution pressures which may introduce microbial and viral pathogens, antimicrobial resistance genes and chemical pollutant negatively affecting environmental and public health.
Acclimatize 2, funded by the Dublin Bay Bathing Water Task Force, will provide detailed analyses of the pollution pressures impacting water quality in Dublin Bay. This project follows the success of Acclimatize (www.acclimatize.eu), which identified the most important contributors to poor water quality in Dublin Bay and characterised antimicrobial resistance genes and microbial pathogens introduced by these pollution streams.
We have a vacancy for a Research Assistant to participate in the Acclimatize-2 project. The Research Assistant will be involved in all aspects of this project including fieldwork, microbial and molecular biological analysis of samples and method development. The successful candidate will join a vibrant interdisciplinary team consisting of microbiologists, civil engineers, environmental biologists, and modellers and will combine exciting research of high academic standard with the application of research findings in the field.
Salary Range: €34,129 - €40,675 per annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
