General Summary:
To perform cardiac ultrasound procedures of a professional level on all patient population serviced by the Hospital. Responsible for the safety, mental and physical comfort of the patient.
Essential Functions:
• Performs complete study including real time, 2D- M-Mode, Color Flow Mapping, Doppler, Trans-Esophageal, Stress Echo.
• Obtains permanent records of examination.
• Contributes professional knowledge via sonographer worksheet and verbal communication with cardiologist.
• Daily Record of Report Timeliness.
• Attends all required Safety Training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, specific job-related hazards.
• Follows the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens.
• Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
• Promotes effective working relationships and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter and intra departmentally to facilitate the department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
• Prepares patients for examination and explains procedure to patients while performing studies.
• Correlates clinical history with the test to be performed.
• Maintains work area.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
