[What the role is] Office of Digitalisation, Data and AI - Deputy Manager/Manager (Data Scientist) [What you will be working on] • Analyse educational data to identify key predictors, conduct statistical testing, and prepare high quality modelling datasets. • Normalise and structure data to enable fair comparisons across cohorts, modules, and usage patterns. • Develop, compare, and validate predictive models; recommend suitable modelling approaches based on data strength and operational needs. • Apply explainability techniques to ensure model transparency and support stakeholder interpretation. • Work with the Data Engineer to operationalise models, support scheduled runs, and ensure results are visualised through dashboards and reports. • Monitor model performance, evaluate post deployment impact, and define model update and maintenance requirements in line with governance standards.
[What we are looking for] • A qualification in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics or a related discipline. • Preferably with at least 3 years of experience in predictive modelling and feature engineering. • Strong foundations in statistics, data preparation and model evaluation. • Familiarity with model explainability techniques (e.g. SHAP). • Technical experience in Azure Synapse and Microsoft Fabric would be an advantage. • Proficiency in SQL and Python. • Ability to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment with a growth mindset. • Strong oral and written communication skills in English. • Ability to deliver tasks on time with high-quality outcomes. • Highly motivated and able to work independently and in a team.
