Position Summary:
Dead River Company is looking for a truck mechanic with several years' experience, or a combination of experience and training. As a mechanic with Dead River Company, you will conduct preventative maintenance, repair company vehicles and other equipment, and keep the fleet in a high state of operational readiness.
Essential Functions:
• Review daily truck reports and immediately repair any safety issues
• Perform lubrication, fluid check, and oil changes in accordance with company preventive maintenance schedules and vehicle manufacturer's recommendations.
• Conduct routine repairs on all vehicle systems and components including changing and rotating tires, brake repair, spring replacement, and troubleshooting and repair of a variety of truck systems maintenance issues.
• Perform all necessary vehicle inspections including state and federal D.O.T.
• Maintain and repair fuel pumping equipment, piping, ticket registers, and emergency shut-off systems.
• Maintain maintenance records on all vehicles and equipment
• Track all parts used and report inventory needs to supervisor.
• Schedule outside repairs with appropriate vendors.
• Keep garage and maintenance areas neat and organized.

Education:
High school diploma or GED is preferred. Some vocational or technical training relating to automotive mechanics is desirable.
Experience:
This position requires several years' experience or a combination of experience and training to include a thorough knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, air and hydraulic brake systems, vehicle wiring, suspension and other items and systems related to vehicles.
Certification and Testing:
• Class A Commercial Driver's License with hazardous materials, air brake, and tank endorsements
• CETP training and certification
• Brake adjusting license
• Mechanics must be able to pass a D.O.T physical
• VK Inspections Certificate
• State vehicle inspection license
