Location: Dorris, CA Salary Range: $80,000 – $115,000 (DOE) FLSA Status: Exempt (Salaried)

Cal-Ore Telephone Co. is seeking qualified and motivated candidates for the position of Network Supervisor.

Position Summary

The Network Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, reliability, and performance of Cal-Ore’s telecommunications and ISP network operations. This role directly supervises Customer Support, IT, and Network personnel while serving as the operational bridge between Engineering, IT, Outside Plant (OSP), and customer-facing teams.

The position focuses on service reliability, outage response, and operational execution—ensuring network infrastructure and supporting systems are stable, scalable, and aligned with company goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operation of core network, access, and service infrastructure, including MPLS transport (Ciena), edge routing platforms (Juniper), access systems (Calix), PON, and wireless networks (Cambium, Ericsson)

• Lead and coordinate response to outages and service-impacting events, ensuring timely restoration, root cause analysis, and corrective actions

• Monitor network performance and proactively address risks, capacity constraints, and service issues across fiber and wireless environments

• Supervise Customer Support, IT, and Network personnel, including workload management, performance development, and accountability

• Foster strong collaboration between technical teams, Outside Plant (OSP), Engineering, and Customer Support

• Ensure infrastructure deployments are operationally ready for service activation and coordinated across design, field, and customer-facing teams

• Support execution of network upgrades, maintenance, and lifecycle activities across core, access, and wireless systems

• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance reliability, efficiency, and speed-to-service

• Assist with development of departmental and network budget requests and provide input on spending priorities

• Coordinate with vendors supporting transport, routing, access, and wireless infrastructure

• Maintain operational documentation, SOPs, and knowledge transfer across teams

• Support regulatory, audit, and compliance requirements as needed

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in telecommunications, ISP, or network operations, or equivalent experience demonstrating progressive technical responsibility in a similar environment

• 5+ years of experience supervising or leading technical and/or customer support teams, or demonstrated leadership capability with increasing responsibility in an operational setting

• Strong working knowledge of:

• MPLS networks and IP routing stacks (e.g., OSPF, IS-IS, BGP) in a service provider or carrier environment

• Carrier-grade platforms such as Ciena (transport) and Juniper (routing), or equivalent systems

• Experience with:

• Access network platforms (e.g., Calix, Adtran)

• Passive Optical Networks (PON / FTTH architectures)

• Wireless backhaul and fixed wireless systems

• Experience leading outage response and service restoration in a 24/7 operational environment

• Ability to coordinate across technical, field, and customer-facing teams

• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating in a rural telecom or ISP environment

• Familiarity with Outside Plant (OSP) construction and fiber deployment practices

• Direct experience with Ciena transport platforms and Juniper routing environments

• Experience supporting regulatory or compliance-driven environments (FCC/state-level)

• Hands-on background spanning network operations, IT systems, or field operations

• Experience with data analysis and reporting, including use of SQL and/or scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl) to support operational metrics and regulatory reporting

• Experience with network monitoring and alerting systems (e.g., Nagios, Cacti, SolarWinds, or similar platforms) to support proactive issue detection and outage response

• Experience working with Linux-based systems and command-line tools to support network monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational support
