About this role

The Department of Experimental Psychology has an exciting opportunity for a Cognitive Neuroscience Research Laboratory Manager to support the department’s growing infrastructure for cognitive neuroscience research.

This role is permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week).

The post holder will be based within the Life and Mind Building and will serve as a key resource for the cognitive neuroscience community across the department. They will ensure the smooth day-to-day functioning of the shared research infrastructure and support researchers in setting up and conducting studies involving EEG, brain stimulation, and related technologies. Additionally, the post-holder will lead regular training workshops to ensure consistent and high standards of data collection, safety, and documentation across the department, and will serve as a key contact point for 4th-year Psychology Master’s students interested in cognitive neuroscience methods.

The Department of Experimental Psychology is a large, internationally recognised department with a high volume of academic activity and a fast-paced, research-driven culture. The department has recently moved to its new home in The Life and Mind building. This exciting development provides exceptional research and teaching facilities along with space for public engagement and outreach. It also offers renewed commitment to work across disciplinary boundaries to further knowledge across the psychological and biological sciences and to solve major global challenges.

About you You will hold a first degree in a relevant scientific discipline and have a strong background in and knowledge of human cognitive neuroscience and research methodology of human cognition. You will have extensive experience of EEG and brain-stimulation data collection and a familiarity with electrophysiological equipment, data acquisition, and signal quality optimisation. High levels of motivation, independence, and problem-solving ability as well as effective communication skills and the ability to support researchers at different career stages are also essential.
