About this role
The EJ Labs Futures Studio Envisioning Lead constructs decision-grade representations of future-state experiences, workflows, and systems that enable enterprise leaders to evaluate strategic direction before committing to execution. This role defines what future-state concepts look like at a system level and translates abstract strategy into concrete decision instruments that clarify tradeoffs, dependencies, and capability implications. Work produced in this role determines how leaders understand potential futures, not just what is possible, but what is viable, desirable, and aligned to enterprise constraints. Rather than optimizing individual interfaces or delivery outputs, this role establishes how future experiences are structured, understood, and assessed across products, workflows, roles, and AI-enabled interactions. This role operates upstream of roadmap commitment, directly shaping how enterprise leaders evaluate high-impact, difficult-to-reverse decisions before formal prioritization, funding, or execution begins. What You'll Do Future-State System Representation Translate strategic direction and emerging opportunities into system-level representations of future workflows, products, and interactions. Construct North Star concepts that define what “good” looks like before feasibility and execution constraints narrow the solution space. Establish standard representation patterns (journeys, blueprints, system maps) that enable consistent evaluation across multiple future-state opportunities. Decision Instrument Development Build journey models, blueprints, and conceptual artifacts that enable leaders to evaluate tradeoffs, dependencies, and enterprise readiness. Ensure representations surface implications across users, systems, data, and controls. AI-Enabled Systems Thinking Define how AI capabilities interact with human workflows, decision points, and governance structures. Model system-level impacts across Financial Advisors, associates, clients, AI systems, and enterprise platforms. Define the structural architecture of future-state systems, ensuring concepts are coherent, complete, and consistent across strategy, technology, and experience layers. Tradeoff & Feasibility Framing Pressure-test future-state concepts against technical, risk, compliance, and operational constraints. Make implications explicit so leaders understand what must be true for a concept to succeed. Strategic Communication & Alignment Ensure future-state concepts are interpretable, comparable, and usable in executive decision contexts. Establish repeatable patterns and representations that scale across the enterprise. Ensure alignment across the Futures Studio and key business stakeholders (executive leadership) by integrating assumptions, constraints, and narratives into a unified system representation. Ensure future-state concepts are evaluation-ready, with explicitly defined assumptions, dependencies, and conditions required for success. Decision Context & Authority Defines the strategic framing, assumptions, and tradeoff structures that enterprise leaders use to make investment and prioritization decisions. Operates with high autonomy in ambiguous, precedent-limited environments where decisions carry significant cost, complexity, and risk. Influences decisions affecting multi-year roadmaps, operating models, and workforce evolution. Establishes the conditions under which opportunities are advanced, reframed, or stopped prior to formal governance processes. Exercises judgment in contexts where formal data, precedent, or governance inputs may not yet exist. This position is known internally as AI Strategist - Futures Studio.
