About this role

Job Requirements:

Berkeley FWS Eligible Only.

Must be eligible for the Federal Work-Study program.

- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Good communication and interpersonal skills.

- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Suite) preferred.

- Interest in libraries, education, literacy, or community service is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

Shelving & Shelf Reading: Organize and reshelve library materials, ensuring books and other materials are correctly placed according to the library's classification system.

Print and Stock Transit Labels for Holds: Prepare and distribute labels for interlibrary loan and patron hold requests.

Photocopying: Assist with copying materials for library programs, patrons, and staff.

Program Assistance: Support program facilitators in preparing for and conducting library programs for adults, teens, children, and families. Tasks may include making photocopies, cutting out materials, setting up rooms, and assisting attendees as needed.

Marketing and Promotions: Design and distribute invitations, flyers, certificates, and other promotional materials for library programs and events.

Data Entry & Record Maintenance: Prepare and maintain spreadsheets for library programs, contests, and attendance tracking.

Material Processing & Book Covering: Assist with processing new library materials, covering books, and performing other technical processing tasks.

Homework Helpers Program: Provide assistance to elementary and middle school students with homework and basic tutoring under library guidance.

Digital Literacy: Assistance with digital literacy programs under the guidance of staff.

Circulation Desk Assistance: Help library staff at the circulation desk by checking in/out materials, assisting patrons with library accounts, and answering basic inquiries.

Processing Holds: Organize and prepare materials for patron holds and interlibrary loan requests.

Other Duties as Assigned: Perform additional tasks as directed by the Library Director or designee to support the overall operation of the library.
