Job Requirements:
Berkeley FWS Eligible Only.
Must be eligible for the Federal Work-Study program.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Suite) preferred.
- Interest in libraries, education, literacy, or community service is a plus.
Responsibilities
• Provide homework help, academic support, and enrichment to students in grades K–8 in a group tutoring environment
• Assist with a range of subjects, including math, reading, writing, science, and social studies
• Encourage positive study habits and build students' confidence in learning
• Demonstrate patience and adaptability when explaining concepts to younger students
• Support multiple students at once, recognizing this is not one-on-one tutoring
• Model appropriate behavior and respectful communication for participants
• Communicate any issues or concerns with library staff promptly
Qualifications
• Current college student in good academic standing and Federal Work Study eligible
• Strong academic performance and proficiency in core subjects
• Effective communication skills and ability to explain material clearly at different grade levels
• Responsible, reliable, and punctual
• Prior tutoring or mentoring experience (preferred but not required)
Schedule
• Mondays through Thursdays, 3:30 PM – 6:00 PM
• Tutors are scheduled based on availability and program needs
