POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced and engaging Barista who will deliver a warm, elevated, and memorable in‑store experience through exceptional beverage service and proactive client engagement.
Reporting to the Events and Visual Presentation Supervisor, the Barista plays a key role in positioning the bar as a dynamic and experiential touchpoint within the store. Beyond executing daily operations, this role focuses on building genuine connections with clients, confidently initiating interactions, supporting activations, and contributing to the overall energy and visibility of the space.
This is a part‑time position with flexible scheduling, including mandatory weekend availability.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Craft and serve a wide variety of coffee and tea beverages, including espressos, cappuccinos, lattes, and specialty drinks, following standard recipes and presentation guidelines.
• Ensure consistent quality in beverage preparation, taste, and appearance, maintaining the highest standards of luxury and excellence.
• Provide exceptional client service by greeting and engaging clients in a friendly and professional manner, actively listening to their needs, assisting them in their beverage selections, and addressing any inquiries or concerns.
• Support daily service operations by offering clients beverages appropriate to their service experience, in collaboration with the Front of House (FOH) team.
• Coordinate and execute beverage service for events and activations held within the Retreat, ensuring an elevated guest experience.
• Support the VM (Visual Merchandising) team with event displays, activations, and event setup as needed.
• Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and presentation of the bar and Retreat areas at all times, ensuring a luxury environment for clients.
• Monitor inventory levels and maintain adequate stock of beverages, bar supplies, consumables, and event-related materials; place orders as required.
• Maintain a clean and organized coffee bar area, including brewing equipment, utensils, and service areas, adhering to sanitation and hygiene standards.
• Keep track of inventory and supplies, ensuring the availability of necessary ingredients, coffee beans, and other beverage-related items.
• Operate and maintain coffee brewing equipment, espresso machines, and other beverage equipment, troubleshooting minor issues and reporting major malfunctions through the appropriate channels.
• Stay updated on current coffee and tea trends, including new brewing techniques, flavor profiles, and industry developments, to enhance client experience and provide knowledgeable recommendations.
• Take a hands-on and creative approach to maintaining and enhancing the visual appeal of the bar, contributing to a space that feels inviting, elevated, and engaging.
• Support in-store activations and events by delivering an engaging and elevated bar experience, contributing to brand storytelling and guest interaction.
• Collaborate with store staff to create promotions and offerings that integrate coffee and beverage services with beauty products, enhancing the overall client experience.
• Handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently, using the point-of-sale system and following cash-handling procedures.
• During quieter periods, provide support across the store floor to ensure a seamless client experience.
• Uphold a professional and polished appearance, adhering to the store's dress code and grooming guidelines.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU WILL NEED
• Previous experience as a barista, or within a hospitality/bar environment, with sufficient beverage knowledge to prepare drinks confidently.
• Knowledge of coffee brewing techniques, including espresso preparation, milk steaming, latte art, and various brewing methods.
• Excellent client service and communication skills, with the ability to engage and connect with clients in a personalized manner.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to support events, manage inventory, and maintain operational excellence.
• Outstanding attention to detail and commitment to delivering consistently high-quality beverages and experiences.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a calm and composed demeanor.
• Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and cash-handling procedures.
• Basic knowledge of hygiene and safety standards related to food and beverage preparation.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with Front of House, Visual Merchandising, and Retail teams.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as required.
