The role:
Electrical Design Engineer – Offshore Energy | Newcastle We are looking for a proactive and motivated Electrical Design Engineer to join our Electrical Design Team in Newcastle city centre. In this role, you will work on a variety of complex, bespoke engineering projects within our Offshore Energy product group. This is a hands-on, technical role where you will contribute directly to the design, delivery and optimisation of high-quality engineering solutions.
Your role As part of the Electrical Design team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical designs and supporting projects throughout their lifecycle. Your responsibilities include:
• Designing electrical systems and solutions for bespoke engineering projects • Writing technical specifications and selecting appropriate components • Supporting project costing and budgeting activities • Providing technical support to customers and internal stakeholders • Preparing inspection, test and FAT documentation • Contributing to standardisation and efficiency improvements within the Electrical Department • Delivering engineering work packages and projects with minimal supervision • Ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget • Supporting commissioning and installation activities • Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams across the business
What you bring
• Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering (or similar) • Experience in a similar role within a project-driven, engineering environment • Strong experience in electrical design, including: • Power distribution systems (230V & 440VAC) • Machine control and instrumentation systems • Control panel design • Motor starter and VSD design
• Experience with Electrical CAD tools (EPLAN Electric P8 preferred) • Familiarity with ISO9001 or similar quality standards • Knowledge of marine and offshore environments (preferred) • Understanding of DNV GL and Lloyd’s standards • Experience with subsea systems and/or high voltage systems is an advantage • Knowledge of functional safety standards (e.g. IEC61508, IEC61511, IEC13849) is a plus • Commissioning and testing experience is beneficial
