DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Understands the philosophy, objective, policies and standards of the hospital and nursing department. • Adhere to the hospital policies and procedures and nursing code of conduct. • Keeps confidential of patients’ personal and medical history. • Listens to ward report before the change of each shift and receive assignments. • Assists the nurses in doing basic nursing care for patients’ comfort, safety, nutritional and elimination needs. • Gives bed bath and provide total personal hygiene to non-ambulatory patients. Assist ambulatory patients when necessary. • Assists staff nurse for dressing, setting intravenous lines, catheterization, swabbing, etc. Clear the trolley after used. Was and place all instruments in the appropriate place. • Assists the nurse in taking and recording vital signs e.g. temperature, pulse and respiration. • Assists in maintaining record of intake and output chart. • Assist in lifting, turning and positioning of patients in bed, bed to chair and bed to trolley using the correct body mechanics. • Assists in treatment of pressure areas. • Assists in sending patients to O.T. and fetching from O.T. (trained nurse to follow). • Escort patients to other departments for diagnostic procedures, physiotherapy, outpatient clinics e.g. (for uncomplicated cases) and fetch them back. • Assists in admission, transfer and discharge of patients. • Assists in collection of specimen of urine, faeces, sputum and vomit and dispatch them to the lab and collect result back to the ward. • Assists doctors when required. • Gives bedpan, urinal to patients and cleans them after used. • Makes and tidies beds. Change linen when necessary and places soiled linen in the appropriate colored code laundry bag. • Helps to maintain the cleanliness of pantry, treatment room, utility room and linen room. • Assists in serving meals and drinks and to collect rays immediately after use. • Sends and collects CSSS items. • Attends staff meeting/conference and in service training. • Carries any other duties when instructed by Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse/Unit Manager especially during emergency.
ALL STAFF RESPONSIBILITY ON CUSTOMER SERVICE
• All employees will understand and be able to implement Customer Service policy, as stated in the Quality Manual, Procedures, relevant work instruction and Customer Service Manual. • Help to improve customer service by meeting and exceeding customer expectations. • To help resolve difficulties customer may face. • To promote customer service of a high standard among staff. • Keep customer service committee update on customer service issues. • To ensure that when dealing with customers all members of the staff respond in a courteous, consistent, timely and fair manner and satisfy all reasonable requests from customers. • To ensure that the hospital resources are used efficiently and effectively when dealing with customers. • Provide physical comfort, specifically relief from pain and pleasant and clean surrounding. • Carbolizes beds and equipment and tidies patients’ bedside lockers, cardiac tables, chairs and surrounding areas
Education:
• Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia • Certified healthcare assistants would be a priority.
Knowledge and Experiences:
• Experience working in a hospital setting is an advantage
Special skills required
• Able to converse fluently and write in English language and Bahasa Malaysia
