The Immunology PCS Business Development role will report to the Director of Business Development, Pipeline Commercialization Strategy, Immunology. This role will play an integral part in sourcing and evaluation of external innovation opportunities through the leadership and management of commercial assessments related to the TA strategy. This role will support due diligence on deals and driving the Immunology business development process internally and externally, targeting licensing/acquisition of key therapeutic assets, R&D collaborations, and related enabling collaborations.
Specific activities will include working with the Search & Evaluation and BD&A Transactions teams to evaluate the opportunities, and with the project team to: 1) work up the business cases, 2) develop the strategy, 3) drive commercial diligence assessment including competitive assessment, 4) guide product forecasting, and 5) lead commercial P&L generation, and 6) work with the APEX to perform market insights generation and gather secondary analytics.
The position provides the opportunity to work with a variety of key stakeholders, including but not limited to: Search and Evaluation, Licensing & Acquisition, Clinical, Discovery, Regulatory, Market Access, Health Economics, US & Global Commercial, Forecasting, Finance, and Market Research partners. Due to the cross-portfolio nature of the role, the candidate will also be involved in the preparation of other strategic initiatives, including contributions for BD strategy into the Strategic Long-Range Planning process and input into Disease Area Strategies.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Work with internal research, development, search and evaluation, commercial and financial analytics experts on the evaluation, due diligence, and initial product development plan for proposed transactions. This includes supporting the overall product evaluation process, including clinical / scientific assessments, evaluation of the commercial opportunity, analysis of the competitive landscape, and financial modelingServe as commercial lead for internal due diligence process with Clinical, Commercial, Regulatory, Finance, Legal & IP, and Manufacturing, to conduct detailed evaluation processLead commercial due diligence of external assets and ensure that tight timelines are on trackPartner with the Pipeline Commercialization Strategy TA team, and cross functional partners on ensure BD strategies is in-line with our Disease Area strategy and immunology strategic planning, and creation of target product profiles for external asset evaluationsWork with the APEX team to perform any market assessments needed.Provide commercial input on clinical development plans for external asset evaluationsGuide the forecasting team in external asset sales modelingLead the development of commercial P&Ls, including operating expense assumptionsFrame up strategic and financial benefits of deals under evaluationGenerate and present clear and concise commercial diligence decks to Senior LeadershipAttend scientific and medical conferences to stay abreast of new developments in key therapeutic areasThe successful candidate will have a strong scientific, commercial, and/or clinical background and be able to understand business principles and market dynamics across various disease areas and indications within the Immunology Therapeutic Areas.
Core:
Bachelor's degree requiredMinimum 5 years of relevant work experience in management consulting, investment banking / investing / finance, biotechnology or pharmaceutical company is required.Robust understanding of the full drug development process, lifecycle management and commercialization of therapeuticsDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively and proactively, possess high degree of planning, coordination, project management skills, with demonstrated ability to problem solveClarity in communication – expert in producing crisp and compelling presentations for governance discussions that are executive ready. The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
