About this role
Amentum is seeking a Crew Chief/Mechanic III to provide aircraft Maintenance Support, Management, and Leadership of a T-6A opportunity in Martyr BG Ali Flaih Air Base, Iraq (Balad Air Base). The selected candidate shall possess versatile skills and abilities to perform a wide range of responsibilities. The selected candidate will exercise sound judgement in making decisions by an understanding of operational requirements, the available resources and options, and analyzing the impacts – both short term and long term. This person shall have working experience all aspects of flightline, phase maintenance, and Aircrew Life Support Systems.
Knowledge & Skills
• Experience providing OJT to technicians.
• Interface with operational customers to develop flying schedules and plan major maintenance events, complete daily and monthly operational reports, documents inventory usage, controls workflow. • Work with other A&P Mechanics and technical representatives to trouble shoot, diagnose and solve unusual and complex maintenance problems. • Ability to apply logic and good judgment, understand technical order diagrams and procedures, use test equipment for analysis of airframe, engine, flight control, pneudraulic, fuel, electrical/electronic systems, problems. • Plan and schedule aircraft utilization and maintenance activity and coordinates performance with operational customers. • Assist in maintaining accurate parts inventory. • Supervises aircraft jacking, lifting, and towing operations. • Supervises aircraft and component inspections. • Interprets inspection findings and determines adequacy of corrective actions. • Troubleshoot aircraft structures, systems, components, and related equipment.
• Reviews maintenance forms, aircraft records, automated maintenance data systems, and historical reports to ensure complete documentation. • Ability to Inspect and operate powered and nonpowered aerospace ground equipment. • Performs Quality Verification Inspections (QVI) as needed. • Perform other qualified duties as assigned.
Experience & Education
• Must have current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant License (A&P). · • High School Diploma, required or general education equivalent (GED). • Minimum of eight (8) years working knowledge of aircraft maintenance operations on one or more of the T-6 Texan or similar Fixed-Wing aircraft is required. • Must have Aircraft Maintenance and Egress experience. • Must have a broad working knowledge of aircraft maintenance, inspection techniques, FAA regulations, and Air Force technical publications. • Demonstrated leadership ability combined with attention to detail. • Must have knowledge of the scope and limitation of various categories of maintenance and their application. • Must know theories and principles of engine operations; accessories and components; theory of flight; rigging of flight controls; electrical and electronic; pneudraulic; and mechanical principles. • Knowledge of sheet metal, properties of materials, fuels, and oils. Ability to read, interpret and use manufacturers and aircraft maintenance manuals, service bulletins, blueprints, wiring/schematic diagrams, data tables and other specifications to determine feasibility and method to repair or replace malfunctioning or damaged components. • Must have a working knowledge of aircraft safety requirements. • Must be able to obtain and maintain U.S. passport for facility credentials/authorization. NOTE: U.S. citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work site. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules.
