Job Summary
Database Administrator (MySQL/MariaDB, Cassandra) _ Work location - Ukraine Role Description : As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for administration and support of production database systems, primarily MariaDB environments. Main responsibilities: · Administration and support of MariaDB Galera Cluster and Master–Slave replication · Ensuring database availability, stability, and performance · Backup, recovery, upgrades, and routine maintenance · Monitoring databases using Zabbix and working together with L1/NOC engineers · Incident analysis and participation in troubleshooting Additional responsibilities (non-primary): · Observing and assisting with Cassandra and Percona XtraDB Cluster · Supporting colleagues with database-related questions and tasks Requirements Must have: · 3+ years of experience as a Database Administrator · Solid understanding of MySQL/MariaDB · Basic to intermediate SQL knowledge and database internals expected at this level · Experience with Linux and shell scripting · Understanding of replication, backups, and performance basics Nice to have: · Hands-on experience with Galera Cluster in production environments · Experience with database proxies (MaxScale, ProxySQL, HAProxy) · Understanding of high availability and failover mechanisms · Experience with performance tuning (indexes, query optimization, configuration tuning) · Experience working with large databases and high-load systems · Practical knowledge of backup strategies (logical vs physical, PITR) · Experience with monitoring and alert tuning (Zabbix triggers, thresholds, false positives) · Experience interacting with L1/L2 support teams and handling escalations · Basic understanding of NoSQL concepts and Cassandra architecture · Experience with Percona XtraDB Cluster is a plus · Familiarity with Docker for running databases or related tools · Experience with configuration management / automation tools (Ansible preferred) · Understanding of change management and planned maintenance procedures · Ability to participate in incident post-mortems and root cause analysis (RCA) Tech Stack (brief) · Databases: MariaDB, MySQL, Cassandra · Clustering & HA: Galera Cluster, Master–Slave · Monitoring: Zabbix, Kibana/Elastic · OS and HW: Linux, BareMetal, VMware Working Conditions (brief) · Remote work · Standard working schedule · Planned maintenance work paid as overtime · On-call rotation
