Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work site environment: At heights. Outdoors. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Install built-up roofing systems using materials such as asphalt saturated felts and hot asphalt and gravel. Install single-ply roofing system using waterproof sheet materials, such as modified plastics, elastomeric or other asphaltic compositions. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Repair or replace shingles and shakes on sloped roofs of buildings. Repair roofing systems. Instruct apprentices. Supervise other workers. Install and repair metal roofs using hand and power tools. Install sheet metal flashings. Erect and install scaffolding, falsework and other working platforms. Cut materials using power tools or by hand. Assemble, erect and install hoisting and rigging equipment. Area of specialization: Single ply sheet membrane roofing system.
