Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Address customers' complaints or concerns. Load and unload goods. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Air Brakes Endorsement. Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi trailer trucks). Documentation knowledge: Driver logbook. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Type of trucking and equipment: Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles). Tractor-trailer. Communication systems experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment. Transportation/travel experience: Long-haul. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Driving record check (abstract). Medical exam. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Weight handling: More than 45 kg (100 lbs). Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years.
